Usable both in Show Time mode (see here), or from the display page of any song, Prompter mode is primarily intended for performers whose hands are occupied by their instrument, or for singers focused on their performance, for whom manually scrolling text or sheet music is not possible or desirable in a live situation.
Activated using the button, this mode maximizes the display sizeand applies a number of transformations to the score so that it becomes as easy to follow as possible:
- In a lyrics score, if the text has been formatted in two columns, Prompter mode reorganizes the lyrics into a single column in order to make scrolling easier and increase text size.
- In a standard bar-based score, if references exist to previous sections through structure blocks, or if indications such as D.S./D.C. al Coda/Fine are encountered, LiveSet duplicates the corresponding bars along with all handwritten annotations and highlighting around them, so that there is virtually never any need to go backwards in the song.
- In a PDF or image-based score, multiple pages are concatenated vertically, including all handwritten annotations.
The button allows you to start recording a manual scrolling session. Typically, you can use this feature to adapt scrolling to a live performance, so that the same movements can later be replayed automatically without needing to use your hands.
Note: During playback, if the timing is not exactly the same, it is perfectly possible to manually scroll further ahead or slightly back while playback is running, and the scrolling will automatically adapt itself to the new timing.
In Prompter mode, the button allows you to switch between dark mode, which is better suited to stage lighting conditions, and light mode.
Finally, the button allows you to enable automatic scrolling of the song. This scrolling follows a speed that depends on several factors, which are worth detailing here.
Automatic scrolling behavior
By default, automatic scrolling is set up so that the time between the start of scrolling and the end (i.e. the display of the bottom of the last page, or the last lines of lyrics) exactly matches the duration configured for the song (as defined in the song’s general information).
If no duration has been configured, LiveSet uses a default value of 3 minutes 30 seconds.
It is possible to achieve even finer control and configure LiveSet to use a variable scrolling speed in two different ways: either by using synchronization with a YouTube video, or with a fully manually recorded timing.
YouTube-synchronized scrolling
In YouTube synchronization mode, LiveSet ensures that each recorded time marker reaches exactly the middle of the screen (for lyrics), or the lower two-thirds of the screen (for sheet music), at the correct timing.
In this mode, LiveSet can automatically speed up or slow down scrolling during the song.
Note: if you start automatic scrolling from the very top, scrolling may not begin immediately (because the first markers may already be positioned higher than the target area). It is therefore completely normal for scrolling to begin only after a few seconds, in order to respect the recorded timing.
However, if you start scrolling after having manually moved the prompter beforehand, LiveSet will detect the appropriate timing for the current position and continue scrolling from there.
Note: once the time markers have been recorded, there is no need for an active internet connection to benefit from this feature.
Refer to the section on YouTube synchronization to learn how to define precise markers.
Fully manual scrolling
To record a fully manual (and variable) scrolling speed, simply start recording using the button .
If time markers already exist, LiveSet will ask for confirmation (since they will be lost).
Recording then starts immediately, the button turns red (), and all your movements are recorded along with their timing.
Once the movement is complete, press the red button to stop recording.
