Setlists let you group and arrange several songs, usually for a live performance.
To create a new setlist, from the main song list screen, choose “Setlists” at the bottom of the screen, then press the button at the bottom left.
The main setlists screen displays existing setlists, with the number of songs they contain and their duration where possible (this requires the duration information to have been entered for each song included).
Swiping a setlist left or right reveals additional features:
- Swiping it to the left lets you delete a setlist (after confirmation).
-
Swiping it to the right gives you two options:
Export the setlist:- As a LiveSet file, containing both the setlist and all the songs it contains.
- As a PDF containing all the songs in this setlist in order.
... or duplicate the setlist to create a new one.
Adding songs to a setlist
Using the button at the bottom of the screen, you can add songs from your library to the setlist currently being edited.
The selector that appears lets you search for and choose the song(s) to add to the setlist. The search field lets you search for a song by name, by the name of its author/artist, or by subtitle. You can also use existing tags to filter the items displayed.
Then simply tap a song to add it to the setlist.
Note: you can absolutely add the same song to a setlist several times (some projects may require this). In this case, LiveSet displays a small symbol next to it in the list to make this clear.
From the song list, it is easy to reorder items by dragging them up or down using their handle ().
Adding an interlude to a setlist
An interlude is a “page” in the setlist that is not a score, but to which you can still attach musical information, such as a key, duration, first note, etc.
Typical uses for an interlude include:
- A song you know so well that you do not need a score (although noting its tempo/key may still be useful)
- An event that needs to happen at a specific point in the running order of this setlist project (e.g. a speech, a break, etc.)
In practice, an interlude replaces the “post-it note” or blank page in your show binder :)
The interlude editor includes a handful of fields to fill in, most of them optional except for the label:
- The label of the interlude
- An optional key (which will simply be displayed on the page)
- An optional first note, which can be used in Show Time mode — intended for singers who need to start songs without a musical intro, so they can come in on the right note :)
- An optional tempo , allowing you to use the metronome in Show Time mode
- A time signature
- An indicative duration , allowing the interlude to be included in the overall setlist duration calculation where appropriate
Launching Show Time mode
Using the button at the bottom right, you can launch Show Time mode for the current setlist. More information about this mode is available here.
